1st Day - A Seychelles blue pigeon in a fan-flower tree
'They were stunning birds, endemic to Seychelles, and a species that naturally re-colonised Aride Island in the 90s.
Their plumage had a regal look; dark blue body, grey neck and nape, and a red head. Their blue feathers were a perfect blue; deep and full, rich and dark, with a sheen. By contrast, the light grey of their neck and nape fluffed over the blue at the shoulders and looked like a headdress of shaggy feathers. The icing on the cake was their red head, which was featherless and a little ugly with wrinkled skin, but from afar looked most spectacular.' - Island to Island- from Somerset to Seychelles.
